History
Hale Kū'ike's president, David Fitzgerald, served as the Administrator of Pohai Nani from 1997 to 2004. He was responsible for Pohai Nani's Nursing Facility, Assisted Living and four Care Homes. David traveled extensively throughout Northern Europe to study the most progressive care facilities in the world. Hale Kū'ike is a locally owned business and David is on site full time to manage the operations.

We have surrounded ourselves with the most respected healthcare professionals in Hawaii and are very proud to have Dr. Gary Johnson as our Medical Director. Dr. Johnson is Board Certified in Geriatric Medicine and the Director of Geriatrics for Straub Clinic and Hospital.
Highly Trained, Caring Staff
Hale Kū'ike's staff training is largely based on the "Best Friends" model which has proven to be very effective. Each staff member is trained to understand the experience of memory loss and to focus on residents' strengths. Strong connections with residents are made by learning their life story and applying the qualities of friendship.
